CMS overview

You choose the application you wish to use - Drupal, Joomla, Contao, Wordpress or Typo3 - I'll do the initial setup, insert content and get you up to speed on the workings, or we strike an agreement where I'll maintain your site.

Choosing a CMS

Which CMS should you choose? Nice enough question, more awkward to answer then you may imagine.

  • Quick online, easy to modify content including formatting with no HTML knowledge? > Joomla
  • Start directly with interactive sharing of information, multiuser blogging? > Drupal
  • Mainly or exclusively blogging and not much in the pipeline? > Wordpress
  • Something more complicated, delegating tasks like content review before publishing? > Contao or Typo3

Web site in 10 minutes

Each and any CMS can do just about the same, maintain content for your web site. this means publishing content and multimedia. with Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress most people can build a bacis web site in 10 minutes.

Requirements

All that is required is a modern hosting arrangement with PHP and MySQL and enough diskspace for your content. The rest will make enough sense, I will explain anything that fails to make sense or provide these tasks as a service. Anything goes!

Templates

Templates are available in all shapes and colours and suffice in most cases. Other sites make use of templates designed by myself. your site will be formatted according to your coporate style, youc colours, typeface, logo and so on.

Future

When you make use of a CMS, this software will have to be updated periodically. Security related bugs are found regularly, in desktop and server software alike. Leaving these to be exploited is not an option. Call me for a quote to bring your installation up to date, whatever CMS you use.
